We Share OurDeepest Condolences

Regional Executive Director, Gary Adam:
We Share Our Deepest Condolences:
It is hard to fathom the pain stemming from an incident that began in Portaupique over this past weekend. I know many of you will share my sentiments on how shocking and upsetting it was to hear of this senseless violence.
Many within our school communities have been impacted directly or know someone affected by this tragedy. This horrific event has a broad reach and has changed the lives of our community members forever.
It is with heavy hearts that we share we lost one of our teachers in the tragedy on the weekend. Lisa McCully was a grade 3/4 teacher at Debert Elementary and beloved by both her students and colleagues. Our deepest sympathies are extended for all that knew and loved Lisa. We acknowledge the information is still evolving within this event and there could be others within our school communities we have yet to confirm. At this time, we would like to share our deepest condolences for both Lisa’s family, friends and colleagues as well the other families that are mourning a loved one today.
During these difficult times, it is important to seek support if you need it. You are not alone. For our families and students, we are in the process of setting set up a phone line to help guide CCRCE supports. At this time, we encourage our students to reach out to their teachers to talk about their feelings regarding this tragedy. Attached you will find some suggestions to help you support your children during this tragedy. We acknowledge we are all experiencing grief. The best thing to do is to call a friend or loved one to discuss how you are feeling.
Again, I would like to extend my sincere sympathy to all families experiencing incredible loss and grief. Please take care of one another and know we are here to support you.
Sincerely,
Gary Adams
Regional Executive Director
